Why do the Asian women who work at the nail place sometimes talk really loudly to themselves?

I'm not trying to be racist, especially considering I'm an Asian-American myself. However, I'm Hapa mixed w/Japanese and all the Asians who work at the nail shop in our area are either Chinese or Korean, two languages I obviously don't speak.





Anyhow, whenever I take my daughter or wife to the nail shop, the ladies working there will say a statement in their langauge really loudly as if they are talking to someone, but no one responds.





Another time I was waiting for wife to finish her nails and and one of the workers started talking loudly in another language and seemed to be holding a full conversation, but no one responded.





Why do they do that? Are they bored doing the nails so they're talking aloud to themselves (ie: Man, her feet look awful. I can't wait until I save up enough money to attend university so I can get out of here!)Why do the Asian women who work at the nail place sometimes talk really loudly to themselves?
I agree with Holly it is the part where we use to produce voice that make noise, however, I don't think we speak from the nose, maybe from the place near the throat. Sometimes we have to yell in order to be heard, of course, partly to do with culture and family education.





Especially the southern dialet of china where my parents were born, speaks really loud. Yes, Japanese is less noisy, but not Filipino. My sister in law is Filipino, she speaks loud with her sister too.





I think nail shops mostly run by vietnamese or vietnames chinese and Korean. They have good eyes and can work on tiny nails.Why do the Asian women who work at the nail place sometimes talk really loudly to themselves?
LOL, it's usually asian women that talk w/ there noses.





In several asian languages [not including japanese or filipino] you have to talk with your nose to pronounce the word or the whole sentence properly. If you don't do that then it doesn't sound correct or it'll just make the person not understand what you're saying. That's why they tend to talk loud. Because their noses can't project their voices as much. It may sound stupid but it's true.
I guess they're doing just that making rude comments. They have to be, other wise they would speak english I know they can. Other than that I have no idea. They do that sometimes at the beauty supply stores and chinese restaurants too.
Maybe they are talking to someone and the other person is just listening to them.Sometimes they do that and they talk load so all the nail Lady's can hear what they say.

maybe thats just how it is in a lot of asian countries, maybe they all go round loudly talkin to themselves lol
They're just rude. Education in etiquette would be a big help to get them out of the nail salons, as well as a college degree.
