In trems of displacement reactions , what happens when an iron nail is placed in a solution of copper sulphate

Iron displaces the copper in copper sulfate, forming iron sulfate and (elemental) copper.

3CuSO4 +Fe = Fe(SO4)3+ Cu

You will see some copper fines in the solution or on a part of a nail!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

because the copper is less reactive than the iron in the nail, the copper will split away and the iron will join with with the sulphate to form iron sulphide. The copper will be left on its own.

iron + copper sulphate = iron sulphide + copper

Fe + CuSO4 = FeSO4 + Cu

I dunno why it become iron sulphide rather than iron sulphate, but recently we has this in a chemistry test and miss said the ans was iron sulphide!
