No. Christ did not preach blood for sin. That whole theological construct comes from those who came along after Christ was gone.

So you are right on target to be a bit skeptical of the popular ';gospel'; you are hearing.
Basically, the clergy realized that the early Christians were getting really antsy about when their savior was finally going to return, so they made the stipulation that ';nobody knows the day or the hour'; just to keep anybody from asking too many questions.
